2005 was the first year The Ashley Foundation awarded scholarships.
During the time from Ashley's death in October of 2004 until early 2005,
Ashley's friends and family built and incorporated the foundation. All
work and donations were placed directly into the organization to provide
scholarships in the spring. The board of directors awarded the first
scholarship in March of 2005 to a visually impaired student from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in
Saint Augustine, Florida, just 6 months after Ashley went home
to Heaven.

this year and the previous two years, The Ashley Foundation has become known as
a true leader in assisting students and teachers in assisting with their growth
in knowledge and musical talent. Our sincere thanks go to everyone that
has helped both financially and with hard work to make this possible.

The biggest year yet for the Ashley Foundation! Scholarship
applications by mid summer were more than the total for all of 2007 and 2008
combined.
Fortunately, corporate sponsorship stepped up and helped us in a huge way.
Thanks you, each and every one for your help.

This has been a tough year for the Foundation and subsequently, the applicants.
School Budget cuts have increased the student's and teacher's need for assistance.
The cuts in the school systems are from programs that actually help the students gain knowledge. In most
cases, these cuts are to the "Arts" programs. Funding for teachers,
instruments, and supplies such as sheet music and strings have become lower and lower priority for the schools
and as a result, the students loose an effective tool to learn in ALL subjects. In 2010, the Ashley Foundation
has done it's best, but still severely needs your help.
A link to this years recipients will be posted soon!

We expect 2011 to be even more demanding than all of our previous years.
With the national economy in a crisis, nearly all school districts have made
huge cuts in budgets. Historically, the cuts in the school systems are
from programs that actually help the students gain knowledge. In most
cases, these cuts are to the "Arts" programs. Funding for teachers,
instruments, and supplies such as sheet music and strings become totally
absorbed into other school programs without regard to the devastation to the
programs that the budget cuts create. In 2011, the Ashley Foundation will
need your support more than ever before.
